About
We believe in ambitious builders, thinkers, and doers who refuse to stop at human-centered design, and who take seriously the welfare of every sentient being, present and future.
How we got here
Sentient Futures is an international field-building organization working to make the future go well for all sentient beings, with a particular focus on transformative AI and nonhumans (animals and digital minds).
We think the intersection of AI and nonhuman welfare is neglected in both directions: AI labs and users are not thinking enough about nonhuman interests, and much of animal advocacy is not yet engaging with AI. This gap leaves real risks unaddressed and opportunities unexplored. We fill the gap by raising awareness and building the infrastructure for experts and advocates to act. Our work includes facilitating connections and learning, helping people build career capital, and surfacing or creating openings for impact. We do so through our events, programs, Slack community, and newsletter. We also take on direct work when it plays to our particular strengths.
We are always looking to serve this fast-moving space better. Tell us how we are doing at hello@sentientfutures.ai!
